The workshop

My house and workshop are found almost hidden in the woods in the village of Tangley, 5 miles north of Andover on the Hampshire-Wiltshire Border. I live with my 3 children and husband Matt Somerville who is a cabinet maker and boat builder – his business is called Working Wood.

Teaching & Demonstrations

I have been lucky enough to be invited to teach and demonstrate on numerous occasions. I have been a demonstrator in the Ceramics tent at “Art in Action”, eight times, and twice in the teacher’s tent. I have also demonstrated throwing at Hatfield House “Art in Clay”; the Geoffrey Museum “Ceramics in the City” and The Oxford Ceramics Fair organised by The Craft Potters Association.

I was part of a group of artists who were sponsored to go to Israel in 1998 for “British Arts Week” in Tel Aviv for demonstrations and teaching. Many Potters’ groups and Guilds have invited me to give demonstrations and I have also taught adults at evening class and children in primary school.

I enjoy demonstrating throwing and the various techniques I use: throwing, turning, carving, faceting and water-etching. I give one to one throwing lessons in the workshop for adults.
